vigil

Inspired by a hike in the Van Vliet Forest Preserve in northeastern Wisconsin, a small old growth forest in a region heavily logged to build masts for European ships. The delicate and translucent fabric sculptures suggest a ghost forest. The drawings made with hundreds of leaf rubbings document tree species presently growing in this forest, along with other endangered trees. (Abel Contemporary Gallery, 2018) Funded in part by a Dane Arts Short Order Project Grant.)
